Nuke Sub Collision at Sea

BRITISH and French nuclear submarines carrying nuclear missiles collided under the Atlantic last night: the incident involved the HMS Vanguard & the French Navy’s Le Triomphant. While both subs survived the incident and made it back into port, the collision caused major concern and urgent calls for an immediate inquiry in to this international incident. In case you are wondering where I stand on these matters, never a more true statement was spoken concerning (our) freedom....

"Without national security, nothing else matters. If we can not protect the free and democratic way of our lives, all of the wonderful things will mean nothing."
- Frank Chang-ting Hsieh (speaking of Taiwan), National Press Club, Washington, DC July 23, 2007

Most of all:

OK, granted, its not ASW, but it sure beats the hell out of the average day at sea!

Just a note to point out more absurdities from the left about the war in Iraq:
These wack-jobs have the balls to go after Rush Limbaugh with knives just for a misquoted statement, claiming HE of all people is criticizing our soldiers.
Moveon.org lackeys Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid & House Speaker Nancy Pelosi still have not apologized for the virtually complete character assassination of General Petraeus by the Democrats in Congress.
Unlike our idiot Democrat "leadership" in the Congress (who threw in the towel as soon as we entered Iraq, I might add...), here is a woman from Down Under that still believes in HER country's troops & the mission in Iraw:

For your entertainment, here's a silly video from our brethren down under (no, I mean REALLY down under.) That shows that life isn't reall all THAT different than it is on the surface:
Anyway, here goes.....

Ok, I thought I'd start today's rant off with a video & a link to a blog I occaisionally write: crusade21.
Here is a new add from Rudy G blasting "the man who would be king" Hillary Clinton, for her disgusting remarks about Gen Petraeus. Listen for yourself here:

Likewise Sen John McCain responded to her as well. Here is a quote from a comment posted at littlegreenfootballs.com, a blog well worth reading.

"I just posted this in the thread below: It's an awesome statement from John McCain that's worth repeating over and over again:
"Senator Clinton said that believing General Petraeus' testimony requires a 'willing suspension of disbelief.' I think it willingly suspends disbelief to not repudiate an advertisement run by a radical left wing organization that impugns and dishonors the integrity of a man who has served his nation with dedication all of his life. If you're not tough enough to repudiate a scurrilous, outrageous attack such as that, then I don't know how you're tough enough to be President of the United States." --John McCain"

Hi Folks,
I am trying a new layout on the site, so watch out... Anyway, as always, I am soliciting your inputs for Sonar gang stories, photos & video, and especially MK116 related content.

Hi All,
So much for the November update.... Here we go again...

2. Here is a quick synopsis of what happens if one of them gets underneath you....

Any questions?

Hi All, we are back!
I am finally able to do some editing & to get this site back on line. My apologies yet again, after the server crash in July 05 other things unfortunately had taken precedent (job & school wise).
Anyway to make a long story short I am once again updating the links, and the email / bio pages - if anyone has any info to put on the site, please submit it to me via the email link (above, on the left), and I will get you updated. I am especially in need of the photos, email addresses or significant info of both current & past members:
I lost quite a bit of info during the server crash, and am furiously digging through my stuff for anything to put back on the site.
I am now running a raid system of my own that I synch w/ the website to keep this from happening again.)
Also, if you have not had your info listed on this site before but would like to be listed here on a personal page, please note this in your email and include the following info:
Name & desired Personal Page Title or Nickname
Email address
Current duty station or civilian job (if retired or off of active duty status)
A short personal bio or description of your current situation
military & civilian interests & hobbies
Your military & personal pictures are welcome (but must be labeled or descibed in your email): Please include at least the first names or nicknames of the folks in the photo & aproximate time frame.
We are looking for photos for the home page/main page that are of Mk116ers past & present (whether on liberty or underway)
These can include other Sonar Gang pictures or Navy pals etc.
Please remember that we are a "family friendly" site too - nothing worse than PG-13. Who knows who might stray across our little site here....

Hillary Appointee Tied to 9/11 Blunder - Check out the full article in NewsMax.com
06.14.05 Press reports on Friday about a government report that offers new evidence on how the CIA failed to warn the FBI when two of the 9/11 hijackers entered the U.S. made no mention of the role played in the disastrous bungle by Hillary Clinton's Justice Department protege Jamie Gorelick. Typical was coverage in the Los Angeles Times, which chronicled the efforts of a frustrated CIA agent who desperately tried to warn the FBI that Nawaf Alhazmi and Khalid Almihdhar had migrated to San Diego after attending an al-Qaida planning session in Malaysia 20 months before the 9/11 attacks. While news of the CIA's scuttled 9/11 warning was a top story throughout the day on Friday - with nearly two dozen mainstream press reports, in

06.10.05 Well, it has indeed been an INCREDIBLY long time since my last entry!!! - As of February 2005 I am working for Apptis, who beat out Lockheed Martin for the IT Contract at my current AF base. The transition from the US Navy life aboard destroyers (June 03) to the IT Tech Support at a US Air Force hospital has been an interesting one..... The stress level here is a whole lot lower, Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "Bedside Manner". - Anyway, I am hoping to re-launch the MK116.com web site, and my gregwright.net site from a more stable server as well as redo the general look and content of both sites. - If you are TERMINALLY Bored....I am also launching a new site in the next couple of weeks called lonestarwriter.com, primarily for content from local Texas writers or dealing with subjects dear to the Lone Star State - That's Texas for you liberals (just kidding). This particular site will accept original content from those with a "Texas State of Mind" too (i.e. not currently residing in Texas , but wishing they were....). - To my military family around the world, I salute you and believe in you. I am very thankful that you continue to defend this great country of ours.

12.30.04 For the latest on what the PLO and Hamas & their cronies, check out this site....This is a bit of a wake-up call..... Here is an article from today:
December 30, 2004 Six Planes Hit By Laser Beams in Past 4 Days "On November 22, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security sent an intelligence bulletin to police agencies to alert them that terrorist groups have shown an interest in using laser beams to try to bring down airliners." Click on the logo above to read the full article.
12.27.04 Hi Folks, hope you had a great Christmas & that you have a great New Year as well! Please remember our troops who are in harm's way... As a parent, I can't imagine what it is like to have a son or a daughter over in Iraq or Afghanistan (or in a dozen other hot spots around the world) right now. May they come home safe & sound. Also, for all of us that have visited various ports in the Indian Ocean; Phukett and Shri Lanka and a host of other locales have taken devastating hits from the Tsunami caused by the earthquake that occured offshore at Banda Aceh , Indonesia on Sunday. Current numbers are at 77,000 and easily looking toward 100,000 with damage in the billions of dollars US. 12.21.04 Hi all, Let me first say Merry Christmas to all of you! Especially to the men and women serving around the world in the War on Terrorism! We are proud of your efforts to keep us safe while spreading Democracy around the globe. We pray daily for your safe return. "Non illigitamus carborundum" - "Don't let the bastards grind you down"
The Wounded Warrior Project - Check out The Wounded Warrior Project - This project "was founded on the principle that veterans are our nation's greatest citizens".
The Project seeks to assist those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq , Afghanistan , and other hot spots around the world. Many of the injuries are traumatic amputations, gunshot wounds, burns and blast injuries that will retire these brave warriors from military service. These wounded soldiers will return to civilian life minus one or more limbs, or with serious wounds or disfiguring scars, and will face greater challenges today obtaining assistance and finding opportunities that would enable them to provide for themselves and their families." I believe this is a charity worthy of our time and money... Let me know what you think!
As Always, I am looking for improvements for the site and upddates to your info - pictures are always good - I somehow don't think you guys really want to see my vacation pictures, so send me some pics from the fleet so I can get them posted! Anyway, for those of you who haven't heard, I have indeed crossed over to the "Dark Side" and am now an Air Force contractor for Lockheed Martin. Its a really great job because no-one (including me) really knows what I do.... Just kidding - it has got to be one of the best occupations around especially after spending a year doing Tech Support for Earthlink ( 'just about lost my mind....) Anyway, I actually get to know exactly what my job is, and how long it takes to get it done + There are basically NO emergencies either! (Which is really great if you are a totally disorganized person like myself....) I now screen IT requsitions and schedule CHCS computer classes for Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio , TX . Anyway, I can still be reached thru all the usual means - but the simplest way is to click on the email button at the bottom of the page! By the way, I am looking to make contact with any of the folks from the shop from 2000-2004, drop me a line when you get a chance at my address on the Current Members page. Mark, Bull, Howie, Big Tony - give me a shout at (210)722-4896 or drop me an email.
05.02.04 Hi all, I apologize for the down-time - 'was going thru some lessons with the website that can only be "learned by experience" - anyway, I am back online and will be bringing the page back up to speed, shortly.
As always, I REALLY need something current from all of you, especially from you "sea-going" types.... I'm guessing there are at least a few interesting tales from the Fleet!
Anyway, send info, photos, questions, answers, moans, groans, bitches, etc.... to mail@mk116.com - I'll get 'em posted as quick as possible!

If you haven't heard of these guys, or viewed the website, you are missing some really good perspective on global security policy. Here is an article from today:
Feith’s Fight - Allegations against the undersecretary are baseless and base.
Feith and his subordinates have been accused for months of exaggerating threats as well as manipulating intelligence related to Iraq : "the two-man group established that there was, indeed, evidence of longstanding connections between Saddam's regime and various terrorist organizations, including al Qaeda." For more on this story, click on the link and read on..... (It's the part the press forgets to mention....).

Skeleton in Clarke's closet
'Let it happen' - Richard Clarke helped bin Laden family flee United States after 9/11. Former National Security Council counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke approved the evacuation of Osama bin Laden's relatives from the United States after the September 11, 2001 attacks.
